Now it seems so obvious to me, but I’m constantly surprised that most people who shop online still don’t do this. Have you ever purchased something online and noticed something like a “Coupon Code” or “Discount Code” shopping cart field? It’s usually right before checkout, on the same screen as the final purchase button. Supposedly you enter some super secret code in the field and you get a discount.
But alas, that field is mockingly blank, and you have no idea what the code is. Perhaps it’s something they give out at one of those Skull & Bones secret society meetings or something. Well, you’re about to find out what the secret is! Ready?
Just Google it. Yes, that’s it. I told you it was obvious. For example, if you find yourself shopping at TheBestStoreInTheWorld.com and staring at a blank coupon code field, search on something like “TheBestStoreInTheWorld code” or “TheBestStoreInTheWorld coupon code” (without the quotes).
If the store has put out a coupon code, some Web site is likely to list it. In fact, there are Web sites dedicated to listing coupon codes. Not all stores that have a coupon code field will have valid coupon codes out all the time. Sometimes you’ll find that a coupon has expired. So be wise and don’t spend more time than it’s worth to look for a valid coupon. Also, sometimes, you’ll find a 10% discount first, but there might be another 20% coupon somewhere. So if it’s worth your time, keep looking some more after you’ve found your first discount deal.
When building this site for example, I purchased a WordPress template. The original price was around $200. But I looked for a coupon code and found a 10% discount. I then looked some more and found a 25% discount. That’s a $50 savings for 3 minutes of my time!
That’s all there is to it. I hope my online shopping discount advice saves you a lot of money. Happy coupon code hunting!
